The Ultimate Diamond Buying Guide
Presented by Parshuram Dayaram Jewellers
Buying a diamond is one of the most significant and emotional purchases you will ever make. At Parshuram Dayaram Jewellers, we believe that an educated customer is a happy customer. We have crafted this guide to help you understand the characteristics that define a diamond’s beauty and value, ensuring you find the perfect gem to cherish forever.
Understanding the 4Cs
The universal standard for assessing the quality of a diamond: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat.
1. Cut
The most important factor. It determines the sparkle.
- Ideal: Max brilliance & fire.
- Very Good: Great value.
- Fair/Poor: Dull appearance.
2. Color
Refers to lack of color. Less color = higher value.
- Colorless (D-F): Rare, icy white.
- Near Colorless (G-J): Excellent value.
- Faint (K-M): Warm tint visible.
3. Clarity
Evaluates internal inclusions and surface blemishes.
- Flawless (FL/IF): Extremely rare.
- VVS/VS: Inclusions invisible to eye.
- Included (I1-I3): Obvious inclusions.
4. Carat
Carat refers to weight (0.20g), not size.
Visual Size: A diamond’s cut can impact how large it appears. A shallow cut might look wider but sparkle less.
Diamond Shapes
While "Cut" refers to light performance, "Shape" refers to the physical form of the diamond. Your choice here is purely based on personal style.

Certification & Trust
At Parshuram Dayaram Jewellers, transparency is our priority. We strongly recommend purchasing diamonds that come with a grading report from renowned independent laboratories like the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or IGI (International Gemological Institute). These reports verify the 4Cs of your specific stone, providing authentic proof that you are getting exactly the quality and value you are paying for.
